It was first identified in Rise of the Separatists, a roleplaying supplementary sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series that was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2019. The IG-series battle droid army was first mentioned in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious. It was under the direction of the Muun officer corps and was made up of IG lancer droids and IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tanks, which were later used in the Droid Army of the Separatist Alliance. The IG-series battle droid army was an army maintained by the InterGalactic Banking Clan as part of the InterGalactic Banking Clan Collections and Security Division in order to protect its foreclosed assets.
